The Kilim rug

The Kilim rug

Initially, “Kilim” means in Turkish the technique of flat weaving. This technique is totally different from a Berber rug whose points are knotted. The Kilim rug is hand embroidered, woven in a smooth base. It has the particularity of being just as resistant while keeping a light and rigid texture at the same time.

An assertive ethnic style thanks to its very dense geometric symbols and shapes and its multiple colors ranging from flashy to neutrals. The Kilim rug is made of wool, but also cotton or even goat hair. It is thanks to the emergence of the “Kinfolk” trend that the Kilim rug has gradually made its place in this true art of living. Between bohemian decoration, Scandinavian decoration and vintage style, there is no longer to choose. Kinfolk allows the alliance of ethnic chic with jungle and industrial touches. The Kilim rug is the centerpiece of this trendy decoration! It gives character to vintage decoration, to the eclecticism of styles, to plants and recycled objects.

This oriental rug is the ancestral vestige of a way of life, of a culture. It has a strong identity, it dresses and colors every room of life. Its use is limitless: on the floor, as a blanket, as decoration at the foot of the bed or even hung on the wall like a work of art.
